Founded in 1919, our company manufactures high-quality precision devices and glass instruments for laboratory and hospital requirements.
We supply the specialized trade under the well-known trade mark Assistent® through numerous domestic and abroad representatives and distribution partners. Our comprehensive standard program, e.g. volumetric measuring instruments made of glass and plastics or different liquid handling products, is completed by an extensive range of consumables, disposable articles and electric devices.
Due to our long-time experience and our trained and motivated staff’s professional competence we are the ideal contact if individual solutions are in demand. On request we are also producing custom-made products even in small quantities.
Since 1995 the quality management system of the Glaswarenfabrik Karl Hecht is certified by TÜV Hessen according to DIN EN ISO 9001. The Assistent® products are distributed worldwide through retail partners (laboratory specialized trade, medical technical specialized trade). Our employees and representatives visit and advise the business partners in Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Scandinavia. Thanks to fully developed logistics a fast and reliable delivery is guaranteed. In Germany the supply partly takes place with own vehicles.
Karl Hecht started the company in April 1919 in the Thuringian place Sitzendorf-Unterweißbach. Since then, he was focused on the production and distribution of precision glass instruments for physicians and laboratories.
Due to the political situation in postwar Germany, the company ventures a new start in the Bavarian Sondheim vor der Rhön.
Opening of an additional branch in Bernhausen near Stuttgart.
Opening of a sales office and warehouse in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland (afterwards located in Altnau).
Development of the sales office and warehouse in Igny near Paris, France.
Our founder
History of our company
100 years of experience in the production are reflected in the quality and precision of our products. In 1919 Karl Hecht laid the foundation of our company in the Thuringian Sitzendorf-Unterweißbach. Over time, several restructurings have taken place and more sites in other European countries have been added.

Foundation of the sales and warehouse location in Fritzens.
The premises in Baden-Wuerttemberg were closed in 1982 due to the improving infrastructure.
Closing down of the warehouse in France. Sondheim is now new head office and sole production site. Abroad sites are sales offices.
