When cultivating microorganisms in Erlenmeyer flasks on an orbital shaker, the oxygen intake is frequently the limiting factor for cell growth. The Erlenmeyer flask with four bottom baffles disrupts the laminar flow to create a turbulent flow. The gas exchange surface of the liquid is increased, thereby increasing the oxygen intake.
The thread GL 45 allows the use of the following closures:
– screw caps with membrane GL 45 for autoclaving
– plugs of 30 mm, e.g. made of cotton, silicone foam or pulp for
cultivation
– screw caps GL 45 for storage of media and reagents
